Flying from Maui to Kauai with wine

On our last day in Maui, we are planning to visit upcountry including the winery...If we purchase wine bottles, will we be able to take them on the plane from Maui to Kauai?

Also, any other place nearby winery you would recommend visiting..Lavendar Farm, maybe?

thanks again...

you can take your wine, however, you will have to check it. it should be well packed in a box, i am sure the winery could do that for you. you can also take it in your checked suitcse, that is , if you trust it not to break.

you cannot bring it on the plane as carry on luggage

^People must be aware of that by now!

We%26#39;ve transported wine in our checked luggage many times, especially on trips from California. We%26#39;ve never had any problems. Tedeschi will ship it to you as long as you live in a state that allows it. (Sorry,I just checked and it looks like they can%26#39;t ship to NY.) Well, if it%26#39;s only a couple of bottles, pack it. Wrap the bottles in clothing (and bubble wrap if you can) and put them in the middle of your suitcase. If you are really anxious about it breaking, find a big enough ziploc and seal it in so if it does break it won%26#39;t leak. Like I said, we%26#39;ve never had a problem.

and if the bottle breaks pray that the broken glass doent cut the bag and the spilt wine ruins all your clothes

I hate to tell you but all the ';wine'; here is really cider...fermented tropical type...not grapes.

Actual grapes do not grow here... grape is imported in slury tanks form califorinas central valley Fresno, Lodi etc. Then tropical juice added. like a wine cooler.....the stuff is available in every longs drug stores.....

For a while, I was told by TSA guys that they were limiting bottles on suitcases to 2 lts.....dont know I think its who ever is doing the enforcing that day.

I will say that as a general rule inter island security is stricter than flying to the mainland.

Try sending it FED-X overnight to your next condo or hotel.

I was just relating my experience with something I have done many times without a problem. There are far more important things to pray about than wine on my clothing.

And with all respect, there are other beverages as good or better than the wines made on Maui and the Island of Hawaii. I would not bother trying to drag them from island to island or back home. There are other mementoes that are easier to pack--the wonderful scented soaps, the carved wood items, etc.

Correct me if I%26#39;m wrong (and then perhaps post in the Kauai forum), but can%26#39;t you buy Tedeschi wine on Kauai? If you%26#39;re not planning to take them back to NY, just on to the next half of your vacation, save yourself the trouble and buy it when you get to Kauai.

Babalax...

i agree but if and when the bottle breaks and you find yourself without any clothes to wear then maybe a little prayer wouldnt have hurt

Being from Californina I%26#39;m a bit spoiled but I didn%26#39;t find the wine all that great... but if you want to transport it we have packed it very carefully in our suitcases and haven%26#39;t had a problem. If you do want it to enjoy on Kauai, the idea to just purchase it there is a good one, I%26#39;m sure you won%26#39;t have a problem finding it. Regardless, it is a beautiful drive and I would be sure to stop at Kula Lodge for lunch, they have a beautiful view and great gift shop. Be sure to pick up some of the Upcountry Maui Pacific Rim Fish Rub, it was great!!
