My wife and I are taking our 18 year old daughter to Maui as a ';graduation gift'; (for all of us!) for 7 days at the end of May. We are thinking about splitting up the trip and spending three or four days and the Four Seasons and three of four days at either the Sheraton, Westin, Hyatt, or Ritz Carlton. I tend to lean toward the Sheraton but am concerned that the rooms are really small and offer only double beds (at least that is the only way I can see that a ';regular'; room will sleep three). I%26#39;m not small so it is hard for my wife and I to sleep in a double bed. I love the location though and the beach sounds fabulous. Any thoughts or recommendations? Would it be better just to stay the whole week at the Four Seasons? Would we get bored? How long does it take to get from the Four Seasons to say the Sheraton / hot area in West Maui?

Great Grad gift. My parents gave me luggage :-/
Ohters might disagree, but my recommendation would be to pick one place and stay there for the entire time. With only seven days, you will find that once you settle in you will not want to pack up and move again after several days.
The FS is a fantastic resort and the Wailea area is beautiful. But it is much quieter than the West Maui Ka%26#39;anapali area. Mom and Dad will love it, but frankly, your 18 year old will likely enjoy the ';buzz'; and activity of Ka%26#39;anapali much more. The same is true for the Ritz in Kapalua...it%26#39;s pretty quiet up there.
You are probably correct about double beds in a room for three. You might be able to get a room with a King and a rollaway. It%26#39;s definitely worth a call to the Sheraton or whatever hotel you are interested in to ask. In the Ka%26#39;anapali I%26#39;d go for the Sheraton. Great property, nice pool area, and the beach in front of the Sheraton is the nicest stretch along Ka%26#39;anapali.
The drive from the FS in South Maui to the Lahaina/Ka%26#39;anapali area in West Maui will be a leisurely 50-60 minutes. Sure is a pretty drive though, nothing like the old commute back home!

Would you consider a condo like the Whaler to be both on Kaanapali beach and maybe have 2 bedrooms with good sized beds? It is close to all of the action, restaurants, shops, etc.
I hadn%26#39;t thought about the condo route...how are the facilities (pool, beach, etc.) at the Whaler or similar condos?
It is a great idea to stay in West Maui and also South Maui. Here is a link to help you decide.
