I have read that there are construction works going on in Poipu area. Are they still going on? Where exactly? Would it be ok to stay at the Hyatt this summer?

If you are staying a the Hyatt you will be more than fine. The Hyatt is a wonderful resort. The major construction is away from this area.
Have a safe trip and enjoy the islands.

Thanks a lot! I have stayed at the Sheraton last time and think that Kauai is one of the most wonderful places on earth - so I will try the Hyatt this time!
Please make sure you come up to the North Shore. The summers are spectacular. Maybe even split your stay. Accommodations are reasonable in the Princeville area.
