I found the following on hackwriters.com/locostHawaii
';Our rental car contract in Kauai included a coupon for a free coffee mug from Hilo Hattie鈥檚. Needless to say, one of our first stops in Kauai was鈥ilo Hattie鈥檚. We received another page of coupons good for things such as a 2-for-1 admission to the Fern Grotto cruise (saving us $15), a 2-for-1 admission to the McBryde Botanical Gardens (another $15 savings), several 2-for-1 lunch and dinner coupons and other 2-for-1 coupons for several tourist attractions such as whale watching boat tours and snorkel gear rentals.';
This sounds like a really good deal for botanical gardens, Fern Grotto, whale watching, snorkel rentals, etc. I%26#39;ve used similar Hilo Hattie coupons on Maui for great savings.
Does anyone know where the 2 for 1 coupons currently offered at Hilo Hatties, Kauai can be used?
2 for 1 Activity Couponsbump
2 for 1 Activity CouponsI%26#39;m just guessing, but it sounds like those coupons might be tied to a time share presentation. I do recall seeing 2 for 1 activities offered for attending a presentation at a timeshare location.
Best suggestion is to go ahead and stop into the Hilo Hattie store and see if you are offered any such coupon and read the fine print, expiration date, etc.
If you are arriving by Hawaiian Airlines, you will receive a coupon for Hilo Hattie - could be chocolate, could be a free mug, could be a T-shirt. So, if you need a place to duck out of the hot sun or misty rain, while on Kauai, check out the racks at Hilo Hattie.
You%26#39;ll be treated to a cup of coffee, a free shell lei, and you can listen to Hawaiian music as you shop. Most of the visitor publications also have a coupon tucked in there somewhere.
I%26#39;m pretty sure it%26#39;s not a timeshare presentation. I used these coupons on Maui. You have to ask for them, the clerks at the store seemed pretty reluctant to give them out freely.
On Maui we saved about $100 on museums, aquarium, and activities we planned to do anyway.
I really was hoping someone would have gotten the coupons recently and could tell us what on which activities they can be used.

The coupons are not timeshare-related, thankfully. As I recall, there weren%26#39;t any of the better restaurants in the coupons but some of the lower-key ones. I think there might have been one for golf, maybe at the Wailua course. Some of the tours like Fern Grotto were a good deal; 2 for 1 is about what they%26#39;re worth, IMHO. That%26#39;s all I remember; it%26#39;s been a while since I%26#39;ve seen a coupon book.
Last year we asked for the coupons and they said they didn%26#39;t have any. One of the places we did go to with the coupons in past years is McBryde Gardens. If I remember correctly it was a BOGOF offer and regular price to the gardens was $15. That was a couple years ago. We enjoyed it. We also used the Smith%26#39;s coupon and enjoyed it, too. I don%26#39;t recall any of the other coupons.
On Maui Hilo Hatties were very stingy with the 2 for 1 coupons. First, they tried to give me other discount flyers that amounted to 20-15% off fast food, etc. I actually had to go outside the store and get a free copy of Maui Gold or This Week on Maui and take it back in the store and point to the Hilo Hatties ad that said ';2 for 1 activity coupons, free with any purchase';. Then, they gave me the coupons they keep hidden at the cash register.
In all fairness, they probably prefer to give them out with larger purchases. I was only buying some ';chapstick';.
If you get the right ones, however, the discounts are pretty good and one tour commented that it was the largest discount they%26#39;ve seen!
Thanks for the input. If anyone does get the coupons, please let us know to what activities they apply.
Dan
