recommendations please

my bf and i are planning a trip to maui for one wk,between 5/08-early 6/08.i%26#39;ve been to oahu 3 times and kuai for a day trip,all three times with my children.my bf has never been to hawaii so want this trip to be special for him but we would be on a budget.which hotel/condo would you recommend,would prefer to be close to the beach,kitchen for breakfast/lunch (piccky eating bf) other than that we are easy to please.thanks for your help.

We like to stay at the condos at Kapalua. We usually rent them from Sullivan or vrbo. Prices vary quite a bit depending on how close to the water you are, view ac etc. There are many, but you might want to check vrbo.com to see what they have. Kapalua is on the west and is a more quiet area, but still only 15 miles to Lahaina and near many great beaches. Kaanapali is more resort like if that is what you are looking for. Kihei has some nice places that are more affordable also. Good luck, Michelle

Kapalua is a great place but very pricey. If you are on a budget try the Maalea area or Kihei. You will find the prices much more reasonable.

isnt maalea where you find the ';mindges'; bugs?
