Hotel Recommendations in Waikiki area

Any recommendations on a hotel within 1/2 mile from Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center? Price range $300-350 on beach?

Hotel Recommendations in Waikiki area

Have you checked prices at the Sheraton Royal Hawaiian?

Also check the Waikiki Outrigger, Westin Moana, and the Sheraton Waikiki. All of these hotels are right near the RH shopping.

I believe you could stay at any one of them for the price range you mentioned. I know for a fact you can stay at the Outrigger and the Moana for this price range.

We stay at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach and an ocean view room is a good value there. You can reserve online.

The Royal Hawaiian, the Outrigger and the Moana Surfrider are lined up on that side of the street .. the Sheraton Waikiki is there, too. FYI - the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center is no big deal. IMO - I%26#39;d rather have the coconut grove back. It is being renovated. It%26#39;s just a bunch of shops and chain restaurants.

The Royal Hawaiian Hotel (Sheraton) is our favorite place to stay on Waikiki.

Hi, I realize the shopping center is not a big deal, I just used it as a landmark of where i wanted to be in Waikiki! I have been to Oahu about 9 times but not in the past 10 years so I dont know which hotels are there or the names. The hotels you mentioned are they 4 or 5 star? Pretty nice or average? My husband has never been so we want something kind of special. Thanks!

The Outrigger is probably rated as a 4 in the US--I would say 3.75. If the InterContinental in Kowloon is a 5, there IS no ';5'; in Waikiki that is comparable. Best is Halekulani.

Are the rooms at the Outrigger pretty modern/updated, because I know this is an old hotel. Its right above Dukes. Looks like you dont get much of an ocean view from the pictures I saw. Is it pretty crowded at the Outrigger as far as beach and pool goes. Some mentioned the Sheraton Royal Hawaiian. Thats the pink old hotel, right? Thats the oldest hotel in Waikiki. Are the rooms up to date? Anyone know how the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort and Spa is? Also the Sheraton Moana Surfrider? Thanks!

The Moana Surfrider is the oldest. The core of the building is original ... the banyan veranda on the beach in the back and the great porch on the front. The wing towards Diamond Head is the old Surfrider Hotel ... not my favorite. The tower wing on the other side has better rooms. The hotel is immaculate!

The Royal Hawaiian is the pink hotel built in the 1920%26#39;s I believe, by the Matson Line (shipping/passengers). It, too, is immaculate with the original structure and a tower. Beautiful graceful building, wonderful beach front and great food services. Our favorite. We have stayed in the tower and the original building. The tower rooms can be larger with larger bathrooms.

Both of these hotels are prized landmarks -- not run down old buildings. They are treasures waiting to be found. The doors in the original section of the Royal Hawaiiand are carved Koa -- incredible. Last time we were there, the Royal Hawaiian Band held a concert on the green in the back of the hotel. Top Hawaiian musicians play in the late afternoon and evenings. A very special place. The music at the Moana Surfrider is also top notch.

Regarding the Outrigger Waikiki - If you%26#39;re looking for the oceanview / front room - those will be very nice! And, they are definitely a great view! DH %26amp; I only got to look at one of the oceanview rooms (dern front desk assistant tried to tempt us and make us spend $95 more a nite....sadly, we stayed in the cityview, which was still nice). Our cityview room was nice - I%26#39;ve read that a lot of people think the rooms are way outdated, but ours wasn%26#39;t. And, the oceanview room we saw was very nice as well.

Just some of my thoughts - I say stay at the Outrigger! But, I have nothing to compare it to, so why listen to me :) hee-hee

There is nowhere in Waikiki too far to walk to get to the center of Waikiki.

Here are a couple of good Waikiki maps:

This one has a good magnification feature:
