Housesitter's in Canada

Aloha! Hope you can help me with this question.

I am wondering if anyone gets a housesitter or petsitter while away on vacation. And what do you pay someone for this duty?

Thanks!

We paid a vet assistant $15 a day for an aquarium and two cats which we felt was alot better than having to board them. She came in fed-n-watered the cats fed the fish and checked the waterlevel and visited with the cats awhile.

You are in Friendly Alberta!!! Wouldn%26#39;t your neighbours help you out??

Ours do and we reciprocate when they are away. Usually we bring them a nice gift or buy a gift certificate for a local restaurant as a token of appreciation. Our whole cul de sac seems to have an arrangement with neighbours.

The dog usually stays with friends when we are out of the country--and gets spoiled rotten at the same time.

We have 2 very very elderly cats, both on medication, one on fluids. So we have been getting a vet tech persitter who comes twice a day every time we travel...this is $50/day in a high-cost area. When it was just a non-vet-tech sitter to feed and give a pill, it was $30/day.

There are petsitter associations who could probably give you an idea of what prices are

i have a college student cat/dogsit for me when I travel (which is waaay too often!) I pay $25/day ... she spends the night. Good for both of us, I guess.

The service I use when she%26#39;s not available charges $15 per visit and I%26#39;d need them at least twice a day.
