Any comments on the B%26amp; B,s
going to there on the last weekend of October
Bed and breakfast Kona
Ok... let me state I am not a fan of B%26amp;B... they give me the creeps.. staying in a strangers home... with them... eating with them...and their pets !!!. Not my cup of tea. But if thats what you like... more power to ya%26#39;
My take on then here is they often charge more than some 4 star
hotels,,, are located in remote and rural locations far from restauraunts, beaches and managed or run by the whole range of hosts from whackos.. to Saints.... with strange rules and even stranger personalities
Most are located about 13 miles south of Kona near Capt Cook
There are none north except 1. There is a group located at 2000 ft ele in the art-colony of Houlola. ( cool and rainy every day in evening)
If a place says close to the beach...or minutes away from Kona
remember 1 hour has 60 min in it.... and minutes is more than 2.
There is one that I constantly laugh at that is off busy traffic laden hiway, 5 miles from town, and charges $165 a day... and is on a goat ranch ( I mean have you ever been around goats and livestock....very well aromatic) and insists on 3 days min.
Use the reviews and remember many could be written by an owner or friend.... such is not unknown here.
Bed and breakfast KonaWe stayed at the Kealakua Bay Bed and Breakfast, which is located near Captain Cook and only a short walk from the bay. It has beautiful gardens and a spectacular ocean view. the hosts were friendly, but not intrusive The B and B was exceptionally clean and well-appointed. I would say it is more comparable to a boutique hotel than a B and B being run out of someone%26#39;s home. The room rate is considerably higher than your usual B and B%26#39;s, but we felt it was well worth the money. This is an ideal place to stay if you are not looking for the sterile resort-style hotels found further up the coast in Kona (and practically every other beach resort in the world.) This B and B has a website. Kealakua Bay is also worth exploring, particularly for the exceptional snorkeling, which can be accessed easily from the local public beach.
