Hi Crew!!
I have booked the Hilton Hawaiian Villiage for 10 days in April 2008 6th-17th. We are flying with Qantas.
What is the weather like in April (in Celcius)..I hope its warm enough to swim and sunbake.
I am so excited to go there!!!
Did I make the right choice in a hotel? We booked a normal standard room in the Tapa Tower. Reservations are making a request for us to be upgrade to whatever is avaialable (which is nice).
My hubby and I are very sport, we like swimming , relaxing and eating good food (especially italian!).
What things hsould we do there for the 10 days??
Id love to go on a boat during a sunset one night or something - any reccommendations??
Thanks so much!!

Waikiki April Honeymoon
I meant to say that we are NOT sporty.
We budgeted $2500 (USD) for food for the 10 days...is that enough?
Waikiki April Honeymoon
The swimming will probably be iffy on the North Shore that time of year, but I would highly suggest going there. Very low-key and the sunsets are incredible. If you want a beautiful stroll go to Waimea Valley Audubon Center - if you want a great drive drive the coastline on the east side of the island. (you will find yourself stopping alot - the views are beautiful) I loved the sunset cruise on the North Shore Catamaran - sailingcat.com.
I would suggest looking for Dusty%26#39;s list in this forum - it has a wealth of information.
Have fun!
how should we budget for spending money?
We have:
$500 - Tousist Stuff.Outings
$2500 - Food
This is the AUD Dollars..
From what I understand from your post, you have a budget of $500AU for tourist stuff and $2500AU for food for 10 days? Yes? Then divide by 10 and make sure you don%26#39;t spend more than $250/day on food and $50.day on tourist stuff. I have no idea the exchange rate, but I think you%26#39;ll be able to eat like gluttons for that much. Chuck...
$1000 AU = $842 USD
For planning purposes, they are close enough, considering that hotel %26amp; airfare is not part of the food %26amp; touristy things you mention.
You can cut your food budget easily by $1000.
Probably add $500 to touristy things. Some things like luaus, Waikiki shows, dinner cruises include the meal.
Star Of Honolulu is a decent dinner cruise. There are several others including NavateK.
But, you might opt for a $30 catamaran trip instead. Na Hoku II is back %26amp; theirs includes free drinks. There are a couple other good catamarans including Maita%26#39;i.

Bec,
We usually budget $200 USD a day ($100 each) for everything, food, activities, some shopping etc. $2500 just for food is heaps and you can easily cut this amount down.
Breakfast $5-$15 (each) depending on where you eat.
Some buffet like Dukes are about $13.95 (plus tax %26amp; tip).
Lunch sometimes you wont feel very hungry if you have buffet breakfast in the morning. You can pick up sandwiches at ABC stores or cheap take-aways like McDonalds etc can be an option.
Dinner $15-$35 depending on where you eat.
This gives you $50 a day for extra%26#39;s like shopping or tours etc. If you have budgeted more than this a day then you have extra again.
Plenty of things to do %26amp; see in Hawaii:
Pearl Harbour
Diamond Head
Hanauma Bay
Circle Island tour (or car hire to do yourselves)
Chinatown
Shopping (Ala-Moana, Ward Centre, Waikele Outlets)
Visit North Shore (Haleiwa town %26amp; beaches)
Polynesian Cultural Centre
Outrigger canoe ride or surfing lessons (or just surf yourself)
There are sunset dinner cruises, but we havent done any of these.
Thanks so much people, we want to have dinner at Keos one night I love Thai food. My fiance loves italian but i am trying to get him more adventerous haha.
Which sunset catamarang is the best in Waikiki?
How far is Dukes from the Hilton HV?
How much will it be for us to get a taxi from the airport?
How far is Hamana Bay and how much is it to get there?
Thanks
Bec from Sydney
Dukes is in the lobby of Outrigger on the Beach Waikiki Hotel, on central Kalakaua Ave opposite International Market Place. It is probably a 15 min walk from HHV.
Taxi from airport to HHV should cost around $30-35 USD (plus tip). As soon as you walk out of airport the taxi rank is right opposite and there are plenty of taxi rank directors there to help you. The ride should take around 30 mins on a good day of traffic.
Hanauma Bay has great snorkelling. It is closed on Tuesdays, will cost you $5 national park entry fee to get in. You could catch TheBus but honestly the easiest way would be to book one of the direct shuttles that will pick you up from your hotel and hire you snorkelling gear (fins, mask, snorkel). This will cost around $15 pp and takes the hassle of trying to get there. There are a few companies around that do these ';tours'; (Tommys Tours, Sand n Sea etc) and they have coupons in the discount booklets which you pick up on the streets in Waikiki. You wont need to book until you get to Waikiki. They have different pick up times (like 7am, 8am, 9am, 11am etc) and offer you different return times back to Waikiki so you can choose how long you want to spend at Hanauma Bay.
im so dissapointed now...someone I know just got back from their waikiki honeymoon and stayed at the Sheraton Moana and said it was better than the Hilton Villiage!!!!!!
I am a bit worried now....
Well, I don%26#39;t think of the HHV as a honeymoon kind of place -- very large resort -- well, you%26#39;ve seen the website. Not the best beach ... kinda off the main drag of Waikiki.
For a honeymoon on Waikiki, I would recommend the Moana Surfrider or the Royal Hawaiian as they are on the water and have a great deal of charm. Centrally located. Good food, transportation, shopping and the concierge can help you with the excursions.
Don%26#39;t worry about the weather.
