We just put our place in CT on the market today. Gads, I%26#39;m terrified at the logistics of actually getting our household moved. Will have to rent a place for a while. Denny, we may end up near you in Puhi. We%26#39;ll have to meet up at some point. We%26#39;re planning to be on-island in mid-October.
Anyone else moving? Or moved already? If TA shuts down this thread you can PM me.
Pam
Moving on-island. EEEKKK!!!
Wowee Wow Wow and Woweeee! Congratulations!
Moving on-island. EEEKKK!!!
Congratulations Pam! I%26#39;m sure it is mind-bending to think about everything you have to do and accomplish, but it should also be very exciting for you too. Best wishes for your new life.
Carla
Wow - I%26#39;m jealous! Good luck with your new adventure!
Very cool.

Aloha Pam! Happy packing and best wishes for a smooth move. Just think of all the things you will no longer need - yippee!! It%26#39;ll be great to hear from you ';locally';. Keep in touch! :)
Just a tip...............
Don%26#39;t pay expensive shipping for stuff that you can buy here. My friend just paid $10,000. to pack and ship all her stuff to the mainland only to find that her old furniture doesn%26#39;t fit the new house and her life style has changed. She wishes she had not paid to ship so much stuff. Less is more. Good luck.
Thanks, Sheila. Yes, we%26#39;ve considered everything very carefully and have been on a major weeding-out program. The local charities have benefited muchly.
Lucky you, Pam, congratulations! I%26#39;ll look forward to hearing about those ';logistics';.

Getting our household moved to Kauai would be exciting to me!!! Congrats on your upcoming move!
Pam,
Our pleasure......a couple of reasons that we like the Puhi area.
We are still rural, yet can drive to all of the services and shopping that we need in about 5 minutes......and Erica can walk the nearly 1.5 miles rather easily when I am at work and have the car.
In fact, she generaly walks it, even if the car is here.
So we have all of Kikui Grove, macys, sears, star market, bank, GNC, cold stones, radio shack, etc., plus the monday sunshine market.
also in the immediate area are: The Kauai Athletic Club, the movie, doctors, dentists, dermotolgists, eye docs, electric co., etc.
Also, Costco, K-mart, Borders, etc.
The Puhi by-pass is very close, and helps avoid the traffic headed into Lihue. Beautiful drive with Mt. Haupu , open grass lands, and
the menehue fish pond.
Not sure if you have found a place in Puhi to stay, and how much you are bringing with you, but I know you have done a lot of research and planning.
We are constantly looking to upgrade from our cozy condo. And a few nights ago we found some long term rentals available in a very nice area just at the end of Hanalima St......which we are on.
Halemalu is a very, very nice area, a 4 br two story very nice town home ( two attached units) with garages,.Rented for about
$ 1800.00/mo.. I believe it was offered by
aloha island properties.
There were two or three others in the same neighborhood, but one was by an owner who had the home listed for sale....and I do not remember the name of the RE company who had the other one for rent.
Home prices are dropping. And home sales are nearly at a dead stop, so the speculators are bogged down a bit. Lenders are requiring larger down payments, so it seems that Kauai is beginning to feel some of the same problems that the mainland has been aflicted with.
Several of the RE residential sales offices are now leaning toward leasing and renting. Not so much sales at this time.
Another brand new home area , kind of like halemalu is Huleia Townhomes, which are very new, community pool, but are a bit high on the rent. Over two grand several months ago, and any thing for rent was on the market a long, long time.
They are just across the road from the school, and about 1/2 mile from the shopping area.
Our lease is in effect until may, and we are leaving sunday and will be off island. I think we are going to get real serious after the first fo the year....had a talk with Lou, our RE lady ( Island Rentals) just yesterday. She has rental and lease listings.....with some nice places in Kalaeho, and Kilauea.
Yes, when you all come to your new island home, do get in touch, we would enjoy meeting you.....
Denny and Erica
