I feel overwhelmed with choices of vacation rentals in Mauna Lani! Many are brand new townhomes and folks are renting them out at ';introductory'; rates. Can any one out there give any insight as to which complex is any better than another? We have narrowed it down to Fairways, Palm Villas, Golf Villas, and Villages. We are a family with four children and two adults. We don%26#39;t mind walking places if it means a lower rate. We also like to walk to the beach, if possible. I%26#39;ve find a lovely, perfect price, brand new 3 bedroom rental at the Golf Villas, but am concerned it%26#39;s too far away from everything (versus Fairways and Palm Villas). I understand that the Golf Villas are close to the private beach club though. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Which area to stay in Mauna Lani Resort???
The Terrace, Mauna Lani Point and Cape are the only ones within walking distance to the ocean. All the others are much further back and you would need to drive to the beach.
Which area to stay in Mauna Lani Resort???
PS. The Cape is a private homes, not condos.
Aloha,
Of the new condos you reference at ML, only the Palm Villas is within walking distance of a beach. Right outside the entrance to the Palm Villas is a paved path to the beach, and is a 10 minute walk.
Agreed that of all those you mention, only Palm Villas is walkable--if you do not mind a 10+ minute walk. It%26#39;s a nice walk. Does your condo rental come with a key card for the beach club parking?
By the way, ';private'; refers to the club--although really the only private part is the parking. The beach is the beach club/boat house beach and it is public. The public access parkiing is near the spa and Palm Villas.
They are in my opinion overbuilding those new condos, so they probably are real deals to rent (if you dont mind being inland in exchange for a nice, big, new place).

Thanks for all of the information. Yes, the condo does come with access to the private club. Now, though, I%26#39;m throwing the Islands (at Mauna Lani) in the mix. There is a great price through Classic Resorts website for a two bedroom. Any opinion of location/amenities at the Islands? I understand they are older units, but quite spacious and luxurious. If not, I think we are leaning towards a three bedroom at the Palm Villas, due to beach proximity.
Islands are ';older'; but still quite new and nice. I thinkg it%26#39;s a toss up since you have a parking pass. You are not SEEING the ocean from either, so get the best deal and drive on over.
