hi. do i need to present an international driving license to rent a car ? i am from another country .
drving licenseYou need to ask the rental company what they accept here.
for excample, we got an international license to visit the Cook Islands, and it was not acceptable there. Instead they will take a US license and give you one of their own licenses (for 5 bucks), and you must get a Cooks license in order to drive there.
Sorry I can%26#39;t be of more help as I have a US license and have never needed to learn the rules for this country. I wouldn%26#39;t be surprised if it makes a difference in what country you are licensed.
drving licenseBelow are Alamo%26#39;s driver%26#39;s license requirement policies. Other rental car companies have similar policies.
* In order to rent an Alamo vehicle, a valid driver%26#39;s license from the customer%26#39;s country of residence is required and must be presented at time of rental.
* The driver%26#39;s license must be valid for the entire rental period.
* International renters must present a valid license from their country of residence. If the driver%26#39;s license is in a language other than English, an International Driver%26#39;s Permit is required in conjunction with the country of residence driver%26#39;s license.
o Customers will not be allowed to rent a vehicle with only an International Driver%26#39;s Permit.
o Exception - Japanese travelers may use the Japanese Driver%26#39;s License Translation Service, which replaces the need for an International Driver%26#39;s Permit.
* No Learner Permits or photocopies are accepted. Temporary driver%26#39;s licenses are accepted only if for change of residence or replacement of lost or stolen license. If no photo ID, the description on the license must match that of the renter.
* Within the European Union, all drivers must produce a current driver%26#39;s license from the county of residence that has been valid for the last 12 months. An international driver%26#39;s permit is only accepted together with a valid driver%26#39;s license from the country of residence.
we didnt need one. a valid licence from your country is ok. perhaps you could have probs if it is not in English, so then you might need an international one, it would depend on your company. but still i think it is ok. the law says you dont need to have an international one.
Please note that there is no such a thing as ';International Driver License'; it%26#39;s ';International Driving Permit.'; You can drive in the US with your regular foreign license as long as it%26#39;s in English too. If not, you need to get an ';International Driving Permit'; in your home country.
