Going to Maui the end of November. Never rented a condo but the consensus here seems to lean towards booking through VRBO. I can rough it very well, but my lovely wife likes a certain amount of luxury when on vacation.
So, can you book a condo with room service?
If so, what is the extent of service they provide?
Any other significant differences between condos and a regular hotel.
Our other option is Maui Hyatt Regency, but of course this is much more $$$. We save for one big vacation a year, usually the first week of December for our anniversary on the 5th, so it is not so much the cost as it is value. Less spent on the room the more to spend on fine dining and excursions.
For condos we are looking at Sugar Beach or the Whaler, if that would determine the answers to my questions.
Thanks, Dutch
Condos and maid service
Yes, some condos do provide hotel type services. Wailea Beach Villas provides both daily maid / turn-down service plus room service. Downside is that the $$$ cost is not particularly budget friendly.
Condos and maid service
It you rent a condo through a property management company such as Resortquest or Destination Resorts they usually provide daily maid service. We stay at Hale Pau Hana and although they do not have daily service they do come in 3 days a week to change towels, take out garbage, vacuum, make bed etc. I usuallu make the bed (no biggie) myself and do light tidying up. Honestly it%26#39;s not a big deal. And no, condos do not have ammeneties such as room service.
The upside for us is staying oceanfront, and I mean oceanfront and to us that is a luxury. I can tell you that we have stayed at Sugar Beach a couple of times and liked it very much but you have to be evry careful who you rent from there because there can be some real dogs units as at any other complex.
I highly recommend renting by owner or renting through a company like Alii Resorts that provides interior photos of the units.
We rented thru www.Kiheibeachresorts.com. I think they offer automatic maid service on the 7th day %26amp; I%26#39;m assuming it could be more often for a fee. We had an awesome oceanFRONT condo, 1 bdrm/2bath, newly renovated %26amp; CLEAN :-)
Most condos rented through a company have maid service. I%26#39;ve never stayed in one that didn%26#39;t. If you rent one from an individual you would want to check.
The condos we%26#39;ve rented had once a week maid service. We%26#39;ve always looked for places with a washer and dryer in the unit. It means we can pack a lot lighter. You are usually provided detergent for your first load but should buy a couple of little boxes and bring some dryer sheets for the rest. For room service, hmm, maybe find the nearby restaurants that deliver. I would much rather spend my money on nice meals out and excursions and possibly never really use the kitchen. I just really value having a condo for the space and for the lanai (usually) to enjoy a book or a meal in the tropical breezes.
Of you are booking through a manage, ent company they have a service that will get you housekeeping service every day. That means they make the beds, change the linens every third day and give you clean towels every day. They also do a quick clean up of the unit. However you have to book this service in advance and there is a charge for it. As I remember it was not overly expensive and it is nice to have clean li9nens and towels. No matter what most units come with a once a week clean up if you are staying more than a week and you can usually exchange wet towels at the complex office.
Thanks to all for your responses and/or advice. We still have not made a firm decision, other than we plan on being there. We were on Oahu and Kauai in 1988 so it will be 20 years since we visited the Hawaiian Islands and our first to Maui. (Spent the last 20 years raising kids and doing the Caribbean thing.)
Sooo many island, soooo little time!!
Thanks again, Dutch
