I am planning our trip to Oahu in May 2008. Our son will be getting married on Waimanalo Beach with the reception planned as a Luau at Sea Life Park. I am planning for 7 of us (four of us are in the 55 - 65 age range, 3 are in their mid to late 30%26#39;s). We will only have two full days to explore Oahu (I%26#39;m thinking one day to visit Pearl Harbor/Waikiki area and one day to tour the island by car).
Based on these plans, could you suggest a reasonable and scenic place to stay? Which area of the island would you recommend (east, west, or south)?
Thank you so much for your help.
Planning trip to Oahu around my son's wedding
There are really no hotels in the Waimanalo area. Most private condos or homes that are available in the area want a minimum of 5 nights, though you might get lucky %26amp; find something.
The closest hotel to Waimanalo is Kahala Resort %26amp; Hotel. But it is only a few miles closer than the ones in Waikiki.
So Waikiki would be my choice. There are a lot of hotels %26amp; condos available.
There is also a section of Waikiki that is separate from the main part of Waikiki. Its much quieter than the main part of Waikiki. It is the ';Gold Coast';. There are a few hotels %26amp; condos there including the ';W'; %26amp; the New Otani Kaimana.

Planning trip to Oahu around my son's wedding
stampartiste,
dusty is right, I think your best bet would be a hotel in Waikiki also.
Just wondering, you say your son is having a wedding in Oahu, where is he staying, or does he already live in Oahu? What does he say you should do, have you asked him?
I am sure there is alot of planning for a wedding, I cannot imagine your son has not thought about where you should stay. I think you need to ask your son.
