My husband and I will attend a conference in July on Oahu. The conference runs Thur. to Sun. We plan to depart from home the Sun. before the conference starts. Once it starts, we will stay on Oahu but what does anyone suggest for the days prior, i.e. Sun. to Wed. Of course, we are open to going to other islands but have no idea where to start. Help!
First time to Hawaii
With just a few free days I%26#39;d suggest staying on O`ahu. There%26#39;s plenty to see and do there. You%26#39;ll probably want to rent a car for at least part of the time and get out of Honolulu.
First time to Hawaii
With only 7 nights %26amp; part of that taken up by a conference, just stay on Oahu.
Lots of info:

I%26#39;d also suggest staying on Oahu and traveling around. The Arizona Memorial and Pearl harbor is a must. Ala Moana mall for shopping, go up to the North Shore - surf will be down but still a great day trip. Hanauma Bay, Sea Life Park, Byodo-In Temple, plus the BEACH. Go to the Hawaii Visitor%26#39;s Bureau site for more tips www.gohawaii.com
I%26#39;d stay on Oahu. There is a lot to do(see Dusty%26#39;s famous thread) or as little to do as you would like. Just going to the beach can be fun. People watching at Waikiki is the best.
Waikiki/Honolulu are fascinating, but the rest of Oahu is largely rural and beautiful. Rent a car for a day or two and get out of the city.
If you wanted to see one other island, I%26#39;d suggest a daytrip to Kauai -- take the helicopter tour there and drive around a bit.
hello IRENEY...Please google and think about eating dinner at the Hau Tree Lanai Restaurant. My wife and I took our 1st trip to Hawaii in October and it is a fabulous restaurant. It is located down Kalakaua Ave(Waikiki Bch) past the beach before you get to Diamondhead. The Portugese Bean Soup is incredible. If you go, arrive at 5-5:15, they open for dinner at 5:30. The sunset there is beautiful. Reservations can be made online. I do not think you will be disappointed. ALSO, you should rent a car and 2 things you might be interested in doing... The PALI Hwy goes to the other side of the island from Honolulu, and there is a Pali Overlook that offers an indescribable view. From Pali go towards the North Shore on Kamehameha Hwy and look for Giovanni%26#39;s Shrimp Truck.(google it) OUTSTANDING shrimp prepared 1 of 3 ways. You get about a dozen big shrimp and a big scoop of rice...12 dollars and worth every penny. The Waikiki Beach Marriott had the most comfortable beds I had ever slept in at a hotel. It is across the street from Waikiki Beach and if you can get Ocean View or better rooms, it is spectacular. Notice how it is very easy to run out of adjectives to describe Hawaii. Most important.....RELAX and HANG LOOSE !
Oh, you%26#39;re lucky - why can%26#39;t my husband%26#39;s business trips be to Hawaii?!?! :)
For that short a time don%26#39;t bother with other islands, enjoy Oahu! It takes days to get your ';time frame'; back in sync. Sorry a week is just not enough! HA
Airport security in the islands is intense and takes alot of time even for interisland flights.
Just get out of Honolulu and hit the North Shore etc.
Get a taste of Aloha, you will come back
