Hawaiian Airlines Fares...will they go down? Help!

Right now I%26#39;m blown away by the price of airfare. Last year we booked our tickets at the end of March for our flights in June and they were almost $300 cheaper then right now. In fact they keep going up. I guess I just need to go ahead and book and not get too upset if they go down.

We have a 50% of companion certificate and quite few miles, but still it%26#39;s close to $900 from the West Coast.

Does anyone know why fares are so high this year?

Hawaiian Airlines Fares...will they go down? Help!

I%26#39;m seeing flights from SFO to HNL for under $400 for the end of March.

Check:

www.expedia.com

www.travel.yahoo.com

Once you get the price from them or a different source, you can usually get the same price from the airlines site.

If you%26#39;re looking at going in June again you%26#39;ll probably want to look at booking about the time as before.

You can signup on kayak.com and get a fare alert for the amount you listed say the price you paid last year or $50 more ( because of fuel costs ) and they will email you when that rate has been found.

I booked at the end of March last year for June. We are going in June again. I have no idea what fares were for Hawaii this time last year because we weren%26#39;t planning our trip yet.

We have to take Hawaiian because of our miles. That%26#39;s ok because if you can love an airline Hawaiian is pretty good.

I%26#39;m just wondering if anyone out there knows if there tends to be pattern on airfare. I checked Orbitz and the flights we want still have plenty of seats available.

We booked with US Airways just a week or two ago from Phoenix to HNL. We paid 400 a ticket (RT)for early June. We searched dates later in summer however, and they were all upwards of 900 dollars. I%26#39;m not sure what%26#39;s going on...maybe just a more popular travel time with the kids out of school?

We love Hawaiian too, but had to settle for Northwest as the prices were cheaper. Good luck!

It usually has to do with supply and demand. I purchased tickets for prime summer travel time to hnl and paid 436, but I bought them in Nov. I have watched the prices skyrocket since then as I am looking for someone else. For what its worth, a travel agent told me they expect the rates to come down in the next few weeks. So I%26#39;m being patient for now and waiting.

Thanks for the replys.

After I bought my tickets last year, end of March, they did go down a little. The thing that makes me feel comfortable waiting is that there is plenty of seats available on the flights we want. But I am starting to get antzy! Yes early June is still cheap, but once it hits the second week of June the fares double!

Maybe they are betting on Europe being too expensive for most people...or Europeans could be traveleing to Hawaii more now than in the past and that%26#39;s making the fare go up? Who knows...

I%26#39;ve been watching fares for our trip to Oahu(in March) steadily go up. We booked last June for this March. By November the prices were $300 (US) higher per ticket. The prices are currently $800 per ticket higher, for less favorable flights. For our situation, I%26#39;m glad we booked when we did.

I%26#39;m not too familiar with airfare price fluctuations, though. Maybe prices will go down for summer.

to answer your question directly...OIL....last year the airlines were buying it at half the price they are today....and labor costs have gone up as well..

All the discounts dusty mentioned end June 1. In June is , as is December, July August, Easter top dollar.

In addition the airlines have quietly adding $10 to $20 little increaqses....+ extra fees for baggage, paper tickets,..everyhting.

Also the airlines are also reducing the number of seats available for discount and flying smaller and smaller planes.....ATA, Aloha are flying 737%26#39;s now

and mayy lines switching to 757 from 767....supply and demand....Hawaii is seen as luxury travel...and they want luxury prices.

The 50% off cert, may only apply to specific fares not all fares. I have a 50% off cert for coach but only full fare, which is slightly under first class....and using the cert . is way more expensive than just going out an getting a discount ticket

Another factor is that the interisland carriers are going broke with the GO, the new kid trying to put either Aloha or Hawiian out of business...lost some 60 million last year plus has a 80 million fine pending for unfair business practices....

i have been reviewing prices for a trip to HNL in Aug/Sept 2008. With ATA, prices on expedia.com, fares went down by at least $100 USD. round trip ticket from LAX to HNL
