The direct flights seem so high, 650-850 pp. right now!!Last year I paid 400 pp. I know generally flights to Kona are more than for example Honolulu, but this is ridiculous. Should I wait and hope they go down. Travelling July 4th week.
Anyone find cheap summer flights to Kona from So CAL??
I have found that flights anytime around holidays or school breaks are ALOT more expensive. I made the mistake of promising my kids we would go during easter break a couple years ago and we paid $750 per person. This past January, we all went to Hawaii again (leaving January 5th, note after the holidays) and it only cost around $440 round trip from San Fran to Kona.
Anyone find cheap summer flights to Kona from So CAL??
if you can get a summer flight under $900....jump on it....last year oil was at $62 a barrel....today almost $100 Airlines manage their seats.. and will cut flights to insure 100% full....I just paid $896 to Atlanta... the fare to LA was $20 dollars less. and that was in May.....July and august and December are the max fare.....
Over July 4th I would say anything under $1100 is good
We booked through SanDiego on Aloha Air $119 each way...direct with no Oahu plane change. We are flying from WI, so we fly into San Diego...tickets were around $224 roundtrip to San Diego. Prices can change overnight by a couple hundred dollars. ATA and Southwest were low. Try kayak.com which will predict whether flights will go up or down. I would WAIT!!!!
Northwest always has great vacation packages that time of year...special promotions. We booked our hotel through Sam%26#39;s Club (I know a corporate sellout). Kelli at http://www.hawaiitravelbureau.com was the same as Sam%26#39;s Club prcies, but she didn%26#39;t get back to me in time.
Where exactly are you traveling from? I also check out biddingfortravel.com It lists what people are winning on priceline...
Good luck!
the 119 one way fare is over...Had to buy it this last weekend and it was for travel between Feb and June 1..........not the summer
The longer you wait the higher its going to get at discount seats are going fast.... the old wait and see game....has changed this past year
I look into Hawaii tickets all the time, since I don%26#39;t live there...I have to travel there. I wouldn%26#39;t pay anywhere near $700 a ticket from anywhere in the US. July is one of the cheapest time to travel there, you should be able to find something less...especially from the west coast. The real thing to do is sign up for travelzoo, alohair newsletters. As soon as you see a reasonable fare advertised, book it IMMEDIATELY. There are only a few of the ';sale'; flights to book from. As you see the promotional sales come in, so do millions of other people.
I personally get a thrill out of cheap travel. Piece of mind is worth something too, though!
I have also been looking at flights from California... but up in the bay area (and for December.) Right now they are just under $450 pp out of Oakland (SFO %26amp; San Jose are about $300 more pp!! Yikes!) I going to watch cautiously, hoping they do go down a bit. Because we are going before Christmas, hoping they have a price reduction to fill seats before peak time hits for the holidays. Travelling around holidays is a tough one. I hope you find a good deal. Also, vary the sites you search on. The flights I am looking at are $100 pp less one site over another popular site.
