Aloha-My hubby + I will be visiting for our 2nd time, staying in Haena and am looking for fun events: music, art, food, nite spots, history, sports etc that we can try to attend while here-mainly North Shore. Any suggestions?
North Shore events/thinks to do 2/13-24
For good food and jazz you might want to go to Sushi Blues in Hanalei and Hanalei Bay Resort on Sunday nights. There isn%26#39;t much night life but at the restaurant next to Hanalei Colony Resort they have music and belly dancing last time I checked.
When you arrive at the airport (or at the car rental locations) they have an activity magazine you can glance through and see what%26#39;s up around the island. In Hanalei they have a slack key guitar concert every week and there are always art shows around. For history go to the Kauai Museum in Lihue.

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!
The North Shore (and heck, the whole island pretty much) is a quiet place, not known for nite spots - so I hope you won%26#39;t be disappointed in the lack of them -- but if you pick up our local paper when you get in ';The Garden Island'; it usually has a list of things that are going on all over the island during the week.
I know that the McMasters do ki%26#39;hoalu (slack key) guitar up in Hanalei, not sure of the night, and also Norman Ka%26#39;awa Solomon plays at Happy Talk Lounge in Princeville.
There is an ';Art Night'; in Hanapepe every Friday, but you are talking driving all the way from one side of the islanad to the other - I dont%26#39; know if I%26#39;d drive that far for it - up to you if you are game!
Enjoy yourselves!

I would recommend that you guys go to Limahuli if you want to learn about history. Although a botanical garden, Limahuli truly gives you a perspective about Hawaiian culture and history through the narration/description of the flora. It is gorgeous there, but remember to bring bug spray!

Excellent suggestion. I always forget about the gardens and it is good option when people want to stay in the North area. Everyone should bring bug spray right now anyway. I don%26#39;t get bit, but I have a son who must be sweeter than the rest of us. He looked like he had chicken pox.
