We are taking a Helicopter tour in October, but can%26#39;t decide which one to take.
We have narrowed it down to:
1. West Maui/Molok%26#39;i
2. Circle Maui
Can anyone recoomend either. Basically it comes down to Hana/Haleakala or Moloka%26#39;i and it%26#39;s world largest seas cliffs.
Thanks for any help and insight you can give.
Helicopter tour...help us decide
I asked the same question a while back and the consistant responce seemed to be Blue Hawaiian Helecopters, West Maui/Molok%26#39;i and no less than a 45 minute ride.
Hope this helps!
Helicopter tour...help us decide
Anyone else have any opinions on this?
I agree with Fireman11. We did the West Maui and Molokai 45 minute tour with Air Maui and it was great.
I am also interested to know if there are any other suggestions for a particular helicopter tour for Maui. Thanks!
The best Maui tours we%26#39;ve ever taken were Maui/Molokai; during Whale season (you%26#39;ll be a couple of month%26#39;s early, but Dolphins aren%26#39;t a bad consolation prize). . Also recommend The Hana trip. Imo, the least enjoyable in all of Hawaii is Maui/ Northern Big Island; way-overpriced %26amp;, as unluck would have it, not a single Whale sighting.
Don%26#39;t know your comfort level with Helicopters, but doors-off is great fun, but my Wife says ';I%26#39;m not flying anything else but Blue Hawaiian%26#39;s Eco-Stars (except over Volcano National Park)';.
Also, a video of your actual flight may be a treasured keepsake %26amp; the DVD is worth the additional cost; it won%26#39;t degrade as tape will.
The only one I have done was around Haleakala from the west, then over Hana and the waterfalls - along the east coast then back to the airport. I was satisfied, but I don%26#39;t have anything to compare it to. I think it was with Blue Hawaiian, but not sure. It was with whomever lists their helicopters as ';black beauties'; - I remember that. The pilot was very friendly and informatiive
Black Beauties would be a company named Sunshine; believe they are the only other company, besides BH, to fly the Eurocopter EC-130 in Hawaii. We used them once on the Big Island and agree: First Class.
Thanks for all the help, I think everyone confirmed it for me, I was leaning towards West Maui/Molok%26#39;i already. Now to see if the wife agrees ;)
We (well, I) was thinking about going the whole hog with Blue Hawaiian and doing the maui/big island 1.5 hour tour (for 3 - ouch!). Has anybody done this and would they recommend it. They made a point in their email of telling me we wouldn%26#39;t go over the volcano but I gues it would still go int he general vicintiy. I, also, would appreciate advice on this.
Sorry for coming in on your post - I guess I should have started my own......
There will always be friendly debate on the merits (equipment, pilots, safety record, routes, scheduling convenience, price etc) of competiting Helicopter companies, but can%26#39;t recall any website that is more descriptive (maps, tour hightlights, photos, streaming video%26#39;s) than Blue%26#39;s: bluehawaiian.com/maui/tours/
Never been on a Helicopter tour in Hawaii that wasn%26#39;t worthwhile, but, as previously mentioned, Maui/Northern Big Island (which does include Maui%26#39;s Haleakala, but not the Big Island%26#39;s Volcano National Park) would rank near the bottom, imo, in terms of value.
