Kayaking Tours

Hi all!

My husband and I will be there Oct. 3-8 for our honeymoon and we%26#39;re VERY excited. Any recommendations for a specific company/tour to take for a 1/2 day kayaking/hiking trip? I prefer to kayak on a river (perhaps the Wailua?) vs. the ocean and would love to see a beautiful waterfall or two and possibly take a swim on our tour. I%26#39;ve seen several websites that do this sort of thing, but wondered if one is well known as the ';one'; to do.

Thanks for your help. Can%26#39;t wait to visit your island!

Kayaking Tours

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

My personal favorite here for any type of kayaking experience would be ';Outfitter%26#39;s Kaua%26#39;i'; -- they have been around forever and they run kayak tours in various areas around the island -- the ones that go into the Na Pali coast area are very popular (I have a friend who is a guide for this and he is fantastic!) -- they also do some river kayaking I believe. The area that you would need a guide to go into would be the Hule%26#39;ia River -- you can do this through Outfitters as well -- it is a wildlife refuge area and you cannot kayak in on your own. Lots of scenes from ';Raiders of the Lost Ark'; were filmed here.

You don%26#39;t really need a guided tour to kayak on either the Wailua or Hanalei River -- both of them are very calm and lazy rivers -- you can easily do either of them by yourselves. There are many places to rent from - if you are going to be on the North Shore I%26#39;d recommend ';Peddle %26#39;N Paddle'; in the Ching Young Village in Hanalei -- they are very good, have been around for over 20 years and have fair prices -- they will also give you detailed information on where to put in your kayak and any other info/help you might need.

Malama Pono,

Janet
