Garden Isle Cottages?

Has anyone stayed or familiar with Garden Isle Cottages. We are going to Kauai in December and are considering staying there. From what I can tell, it may be further away from construction.

Garden Isle Cottages?

I%26#39;m familar with these cottages but I%26#39;ve never stayed there. We stay in a house just down the road from that location (on Ho%26#39;ona Road). They are actually on the Waikomo Stream (near the mouth). You can see the ocean from there. It%26#39;s up the road a few yards from Whaler%26#39;s Cove condos.

If you check out their website (http://www.oceancottages.com/locations.html) you can see that it is fairly close to the current contruction. I%26#39;m not sure how that will affect you in December. A big part of the construction is along Poipu Road between Lawai Road and Kapili Road. Also, there is a lot of contruction north of Lawai Road starting at Poipu Road going west towards Spouting Horn.

Since your unit is facing ';away'; from the contruction, you may not be bothered by it. You will have to drive through the detour to get to your cottage. With that said, we are coming in late November and staying on Ho%26#39;ona Road and we do not anticipate any problems.

Maybe Janet, who lives in Poipu, can shed some more light on this subject.

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

';Garden Isle Cottages'; are located in a kind of cul-de-sac area just off of Lawai Road -- they are comparatively tucked away and altho%26#39; they are only about 2 blocks from the construction of Kukui%26#39;ula Development, I don%26#39;t think it would directly impact you there. You really have a pretty big buffer zone.

I%26#39;ve never seen the inside of them, but they look very nice from the outside and have been there for a number of years. They are just a few doors down from the beautiful Whaler%26#39;s Cove condos -- an ';older'; (just pre-Iniki) luxury condo development that I can remember units selling for in about the $300,000 range or so a few years ago -- now -$1,000,000 and up I believe! Anywho -- the cottages are in a quiet residential area of homes and vacation rentals.

It just depends on how much you want to be away from the construction -- while you are somewhat removed from it there -- you%26#39;ll deal with it anytime you go out to Lawai Road or around the immediate area. You can always walk down to Baby Beach from Garden Isle Cottages through the little residential area on the ocean and you wouldn%26#39;t even know the construction was closeby from that little walk.

I guess if you aren%26#39;t bothered by navigating around a construction zone when you leave the Cottages -- I%26#39;d say go for it -- I%26#39;ve always really liked that area -- so much more quiet (especially now!) than the properties on Ho%26#39;onani Road -- altho%26#39; if you want to walk the bike path there it is a closeby stroll from the Cottages.

I know I%26#39;m rambling here -- but basically I%26#39;d say they are great -- with the caveat that they are in a general area of very active construction and will be for the forseeable future I%26#39;m afraid.

Malama Pono,

Janet
