where to stay in kauai?

We are planning a family trip to Kauai, but have no idea in which part of the island to stay. We%26#39;ll be there from Dec 26 - Jan 5 and we are looking for great beaches and sunny weather. I have also read on other forums that driving can be a pain. Why is that? If anyone also has any suggestions in regards to condo rentals that would be great.

You are going at a very busy time. Many of the ';better'; condos are probably taken.

The sunnier side of the island will most likely be Poipu. The traffic is bad due to construction. You can read the past threads about that. Also, I found the traffic to be a nightmare leaving Poipu driving into Lihue. Right before you get to Gaylords and the shopping center. Bumper to bumper. Also the Kapaa area is bad during rush hour. You can take the bypass roads though.

You might want to look into stay at WBR in Kapaa. They probably have some units still open for Xmas. This is a new complex with beautiful interiors but the beaches aren%26#39;t good on that side of the island. The east shore will be central for you to get to the north or south for activities.

To see some condos for rent by owners check out summitpacific.com or VRBO.
