Marriott or Ka'anapali - 1st time visitor

Hi, my husband and I will be going to Hawaii in Oct. 08 for our 20th. Anniversary. We are going to be able to stay for a total of 16 nights. We are fortunate that we have hotel points to use for part of our stay but I am trying to use them the best way possible. We are going to be staying on Oahu at the HHV for 6 nights using points for sure. My question lies in whether to then use our Marriott points on Maui or the big Island. We will either use them at the Marriott Maui Ocean Club or the Waikola Beach Marriott. Our alternate hotel choices right now for Maui would be the Ka%26#39;anapali Beach hotel and on the Big Island we were thinking Hapuna Beach Prince. Any input would be great.

We do like: a nice beach, good amenities, good location. We don%26#39;t mind driving to restaurants, attractions etc.. We don%26#39;t have kids ourselves but don%26#39;t mind a few either. I look forward to your input. Thanks.

You will get a bunch of responses that will probably conflict, so let me say this up front ... I don%26#39;t think you can go wrong with either Mariott property. We%26#39;re looking forward to staying at the recently mega-remodeled Mariott in Waikoloa this winter. From the research I have done -- it sounds great ... and a great location, too.

The Ocean Club -- I have never stayed there, but we did snoop around on our last visit and it looks great.

If you are used to the caliber of these Marriott%26#39;s you may not care for the Ka%26#39;anpali Beach Hotel. Good location, though.

BlBl, Thanks for the insight. We have points for only 5 days at a marriott free so are deciding whether to pay for the other hotel on Maui or the Big Island. any insight into the Hapuna Prince?
