Any feedback on ';nightlife'; in south Maui

We don%26#39;t get out much to bar scene; unless there is really good music ... have heard that Mulligan%26#39;s on the Blue in Wailea has a strange and wonderful mix. Some have said this is a popular Irish restaurant %26amp; bar which might morph an unlikely nightclub. They said lots of variety - different music, from reggae to Irish folksingers to trance DJs; not really Hawaiiana type place or experience - just friendly crowd of Irish and non-Irish, 20s to 40s, locals and tourists.

We have friends visiting soon who will want to know where the best nightlife hang outs are on south Maui.

All you party animals out there - is Mulligan%26#39;s still a good place to meet people and chat. Any other suggestions?

Mulligan%26#39;s would never be mistaken for a nightclub. It is a pub that has some entertainment, but certainly not DJs or dance club type stuff.

Monday nights is Gypsy Pacific, at least for now. Mulligan%26#39;s is stopping most of the midweek entertainment and as of last week Monday was the last night still intact. Gypsy Pacific is Gypsy jazz, playing from 7 to 9.

Sat %26amp; Sun nights is Irish Music with the Celtic Tigers, 7-10, except for when they are having a party or a special show, like this Saturday when Lawa will be playing three sets till 10 - closing

Some Fridays is Wailea Nights with Eric Gilliom and Barry Flanagan, playing traditional and contemporary Hawaiian classics, alternating out with guest artists as their schedules require. This week it will be Barry with Ernie Cruz Jr. Usually they are accompanied by hula dancer, Maile Keawe Bryan, Auntie Genoa Keawe%26#39;s granddaughter.

For more serious partying you would want to go the Kalama Village--Life%26#39;s a Beach, Tiki Lounge, Lulu%26#39;s, Kahales, Ambrosia, Duck %26amp; Dog...

You know, one night we strolled the beach at Kihei, and heard some live music. A bunch of people had set up a little three-piece rock band in one of the pavilions. A bunch of friendly locals was there, enjoying the tunes. They sounded like the Doors meets Nirvana.

Free show, nice experience.
