Ideas for 3 days in Kauai

My husband and i will be in Kauai for 3 days (then going on to Maui). I am looking for suggestions on what we MUST do/see for two ut of the three days. Hubby wants to kayak, so any recommendations would be helpful. I was thinking about a tour that does kaying, hicking, ziplining and a lunch by a waterfall. Any thoughts/recommendations would be very much appreciated. We will be staying at the Kauai Marriott Resort %26amp; Beach Club.

Thanks!

Ideas for 3 days in Kauai

Things we did and really liked

-Helocopter tour

-Napali coast boat tour {Used Napali Cat - was very good} Also must check out Hanalei and North Shore while there.

-Drive up to Waimea Canyon on South side.

-Hike at least part of Kalalau trail on North Shore - trailhead at Ke%26#39;e Beach area (end of road)

We stayed at Marriott in Lihue also - great central location for exploring island; beautiful setting at Kalapaki Beach - need to eat at Duke%26#39;s upstairs once; great food in great atmosphere.

Aloha from Kaua%26#39;i!

I don%26#39;t know that there is any one tour that encompasses all of the things that you mentioned in your post -- but you can certainly do all of those things and not necessarily with a guide.

You are staying in Lihu%26#39;e down at Kalapaki Beach -- you could kayak on the nearby Hule%26#39;ia River (this you do need a guide for - Outfitters Kaua%26#39;i is the one I like) into the wildlife refuge and by the Menehune Fishpond -- there is a small boat harbor just past the cruise ship area - this is where there are one or two kayak places that will take you up Hule%26#39;ia River.

Hiking is available almost everywhere on island -- I%26#39;m not sure what kind of trail you are looking for but one that is great for almost everyone (you can do a small part of it or the entire trail) is the trailhead that goes to Sleeping Giant or Nounou Mountain. This is in Wailua -- you turn on Kuamo%26#39;o Rd. at Coco Palms and just stay on that road past Opaeka%26#39;a Falls until you see a trailhead (it is well marked and always cars are parked here) for it. You can also take a picnic if you want as there is an area with a pavilion that overlooks the Wailua Homesteads area and the mountains beyond. There isn%26#39;t a waterfall here, but it is beautiful!

There are several places to go ziplining here -- the two that I seem to hear the most about from visitors (in a good way!) are the Princeville Ranch on the North Shore and Kipu Falls (here is your waterfall - zipline by Outfitter%26#39;s Kaua%26#39;i) which is more the Southeast side of the island.

Whatever you do, allow yourself some ';wiggle room'; for things that you discover while you are here -- maybe take the North Shore on one day, the South and West side on the other -- with one day to do what appeals to you!

Just suggestions -- hope any of them help!

Malama Pono,

Janet

You might check out this site as far as an adventure that would cover most fo the activities you mentioned:

do the zipline at Princevile it is the best

We did the Princeville Adventures Zip N Dip and loved it. The problem with the combination adventure is it looks like you only do 2 ziplines, but since you mentioned a tour that did everything I thought I%26#39;d give you the info.

Personally I%26#39;d do the Zip N Dip and then kayak another time or even later in the afternoon. Hanalei isn%26#39;t far from Princeville and you could rent kayaks there and kayak either the river or in the bay, depending on the time of the year you will be there.
