I finally met a chihuahua I like!

I swear this is not off topic!

My SO and I were in Kauai (Princeville area) from 9/1 through 9/11. We have three dogs and were missing them terribly. One afternoon last week we were eating lunch at the Polynesian Cafe in the Ching Young Village in Hanalei, and we found a little brown chihuahua running around in the courtyard looking for scraps. She was absolutely adorable with the best temperament and nothing at all like any of the yappy/nippy chihuahuas I%26#39;ve ever encountered. I petted her, but she took off behind a lady before I remembered to snap her photo.

A few days later I was walking by Hanalei Music%26#39;s Strings %26amp; Things and saw the chihuahua in the doorway. I went in, and it turned out that the owner of the store is the guardian of Puddin%26#39; (that%26#39;s the chihuahua%26#39;s name). Puddin%26#39; came up to me with her tail wagging and was just begging to be picked up, and so I did. I didn%26#39;t have my camera, so I promised I%26#39;d come back later for a photo.

I was able to stop by yesterday and take a photo with Puddin%26#39;. It was nice to see such a sweet little dog while I was away from mine.

If you%26#39;re ever in Hanalei and have an interest in musical instruments or just music (they also carry CDs and DVDs), be sure to stop by -- the owner is an awesome lady. And if you like dogs, be sure to ask for Puddin%26#39; -- she will steal your heart!

I always miss my cats when I travel (but somehow, the local feline populace finds me, I think there%26#39;s a secret kitty email network).

I am in Kauai next May and will look for Puddin!

I%26#39;ll make an effort to try and stop by. Like you I%26#39;m not generally fond of chihuahua and have found them to be often be a bit mean and snippy. Have run into a few very nice ones though - and those admitted are pretty darned cute.

Anyway, I%26#39;m sure we%26#39;ll be missing our two little mini poms so it might be nice to get a little dog ';fix'; (I%26#39;ll browse the shop too).

there are many of those little chihuahua mixes here. They seem to have had the yippiness mixed out of them. Ours is very quiet until someone strange comes on her property (she came with the lot evidently).

That aloha spirit must apply to the doggie residents as well. :)

Also in that same shopping center in the T shirt store is a great golden retriever. Very sweet. I am a golden lover so I always stop and say hi to him. Maybe he and Puddin are buddies.
