You%26#39;ll have a lot more luck with the nightlife in Honolulu. Maui is pretty subdued as far as the nightlife goes.

If you mean bar scene type of night life - head to Oahu, altho there are some places in west Maui region like Moose McGillycuddy%26#39;s.
Good link at Frommers - frommers.com/destinations/…0015010030.html
Maui Time Magazine in their art/entertainment';, ';big calendar'; section is also a good source for current happenings ... http://www.mauitime.com/
It is just that in the high tourist areas for bars and restaurants, almost everyone is with family, travel partner or spouse ... not that many singles.
We have more luck hanging on the beach; talking to folks on excursions, esp. the smaller beach access snorkel ones, or eco-hikes or boat tours with less than 10-15 in your group. Maui Swap Meet is where I run into everyone on Sat AM in Kahului, plus we strike up conversations wherever we go with vendors, wait staff, next door %26#39;neighbors%26#39; at the condo, fellow shoppers at the farmers markets or craft fairs, people in line, surfer dudes ... whoever is willing to talk story.
A more laid back scene with some live music is at Jacques in Paia on the north shore. Or up the slope on ladies night at Casanova%26#39;s [Wednesdays] in Makawao. And IF Hapa, Willie K., Amy Gilliom, or the soloist Keali%26#39;i Reichel are playing anywhere on Maui, don%26#39;t miss them; they%26#39;re among the finest Hawaiian musicians around today. Most clubs with dance floors play a combination of Hawaiian and reggae, called Jawaiian, with a heated-up rhythm, usually younger crowd of dancers who love the beat.
In south Maui - there is a fun karoke night at an award winning Japanese restaurant; think they have a location in west Maui too. Sansei; they have an early seating for better price and usually lines to get in on those nights. Late night Thursdays and Fridays for karaoke, drink specials and half-priced sushi.
