Grand Wailea & Hilton Honors

HiltonHonors premium level members (platinum and gold) did you get any perks at the GW? upgrade to Napua Tower? Free use of fitness center? Free water? Anything else? Sounds like they kind of nickel and dime you ... just wondering if being HH platinum will be of any benefit?

Oh, Diamond ... that%26#39;s what it is (not platinum as in my post) All these clubs are confusing!

I don%26#39;t need till Sept so I will be interested to hear from you!

any news from anyone on getting upgraded for being in HHonors? I%26#39;m a diamond member and am curious before we go out there next year.

I%26#39;m not a premium level member, but was upgraded to an ocean view room without even asking.

Speaking of nickel and diming- be careful of the mini-bar. We opened ours just to get to the wine opener (friend sent a bottle to us in our room) and a charge showed up on our bill, even though we didn%26#39;t touch any of the food or drink. They took it off the bill, but it took 3 calls to the hotel to do so. Not a big amount of money, but an annoyance.

just checked in july 4..am online from the lobby free internet .bring a print out of the hilton honors upgrade benefits for gold and diamond. the front desk was not ready to do anything till i showed her the benefits. i believed they verified that i was gold and then upgraded to deluxe garden view in the members section. very nice, very large, view of ocean from patio. bonus 20 per cent off spa, $ 25 of restuarant, 2 bottles fiji water, gift box of cokokies.

i am using 80,000 hh points per nite for 2 nite stay, and the room is going for $650 per nite.

I stayed at the Grand Wailea and I am a Diamond HHonors member. GW also knew that I was getting married (not on the property, but during my stay with them).

The upgrades that I rec%26#39;ed is (1) upgrade from graden view to ocean view room, (2) a coupon for the spa - 20% off but not valid on packages, i.e. couple massages, (3) coupon for a free bottle of sparkling wine at one of the restaurants on the property, (4) one time coupon for $25 dollar off at one of the restaurants on the property, and (5) two bottles of Fuji water and a box of Big Island cookies.

Not sure if any of those are real upgrades or does anyone checking in get them also.

Those are definitely upgrades I guess for Diamond members as we are HH members (but not diamond) and I was given hard time just getting points since technically I was told by front desk that the Grand Wailea is only managed by Hilton, not owned.

As far as anniversary upgrade, we were given a coupon for free bottle of champagne if we went to dinner at one of their restaurants..which we did, but forgot to use coupon since we don%26#39;t drink champagne anyway.

We were kind of dissappointed in the quality of service and treatment from the front desk , but we did love the Grand wailea and had paid approx $525 per night (oct 2006) for Napua Tower Oceanview which included breakfast %26amp; cocktail hour and hors doeurves every night! That was AWESOME! Top shelf! Nice assortment of cheeses, fruits, etc. We made dinner out of it more than once....

Well, I%26#39;ll be there in a couple of weeks so we will see what we get ...
