We want to take one of the commercial tours, but will be staying in Hilo.
Does anyone know how safe it is to leave a rental car at the Hwys 190/200 intersection, which appear to be the most convenient pickup point for us?

Mauna Kea Summit Tour Pick-up Question
well its one of the more remote..un-lit places you could pick........when you consider its only a 30 min ( 20 mile drive) to Waikoloa Beach at Roys... lit, patrolled parking.
if it were me... I would not. even consider it
