Sheraton prices!!!!!! Who can afford this????

Wow!!! I just for the heck of it went in to see how much rooms at the Sheraton/Maui are. For Garden view.....465 dollars!!!! Who the heck pays this for room for one night??? And for a garden view??

I think this is robbery! I have been looking at ';other'; places to stay, we usually stay at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel and thinking of a change. I am also in the process of looking at condos. So far, I think the Mahana looks nice. I liked the Maui Kai too, but not the pool being in back of the bldg., as I%26#39;ll bet there is no sun in the afternoon due to the bldg blocking it.

Am I just cheap, or does anyone else think the price at the Sheraton is crazy high?

Sheraton prices!!!!!! Who can afford this????

I%26#39;m with you on this, Pattie. I can%26#39;t believe what some people pay for a hotel room. Heck, I%26#39;m getting a two-story, three bedroom condo for five people (but it can sleep 8) at The Papakea in March for only $340.00/night! Sure, it%26#39;s not right on Kaanapali, but we can always drive to any beach we want. I guess I%26#39;m cheap, too.

Sheraton prices!!!!!! Who can afford this????

Hey Patti - I can%26#39;t speak from personal experience as to the Sheraton, but I know that the Sheraton comes up often on Priceline and Hotwire for much less. It might be worth a try. Also, have you joined the Starwood FF club? I think you can also get discounted rooms through them directly. We stayed at the Kaanapali Alii a couple of years ago. Really liked it. We found the best price through greathawaiivacations.com but it is still pretty expensive. The Mahanna is on my radar screen for our next visit too. Good luck with your planning.

Glad I%26#39;m not alone on this!

Not alone at all... it%26#39;s just crazy and it only gets worse from there. I would much rather have an oceanfront condo for half the price and not have to deal with all the people. Who wants to have to fight for a pool chair?

The Sheraton has an A-1 location. The best ... it%26#39;s spread out along the best beach, nice grassy areas, a great pool, Black Rock, wonderful food services, easy parking, variety of rooms, luau ... so many amenities. So it%26#39;s popular, and the old law of supply-and-demand really jacks up the price. Sheraton charges alot because they can get away with it!

We have been going there since 2001(yearly) and have seen the prices go through the roof. BUT - we are Starwood members, so we get 35% off the rack rate and usually a fifth or sixth night free. That makes it bearable. This year we are opting for a mountain view room (short trip) and hoping for an upgrade.

Check out Starwood -- there no costs involved and it includes Westin, Sherato, St. Regis and other hotels as well.

Not up for the big price tag but it doesn%26#39;t deter a lot of people.

I like an ocean front condo for less than half the price, no resort fee, no parking fee, no crowds at the pool, more square footage, 2 bedrooms and a kitchen, sunset every night and the sound of the ocean to lull me to sleep. AAHHH

It depends on what you want and what you can afford, but the prices of rooms have gone up every year. We stay in the club level rooms and they all run $1000 and up with some closing in on $1500/night, but it%26#39;s my vacation and I do enjoy the visits each year so I guess I%26#39;m not cheap. I realize that when they remodel they do have to raise their prices, but you do wonder if it will ever level out for a few years.

I always remind my self that alot of people who stay in expensive resorts are there with points, on business etc...

It really does depend on what people are looking for. For me, being on the east coast and with older teens, this is not a trip we will be repeating, so we decided to splurge. Haven%26#39;t regretted any of it. For people who come often, a more economical condo would make more sense.

Regardless of the cost I prefer a condo over a hotel for a vacation. especially in a resort area. The rooms are 3-4 times the size and you can relax and eat there too. The fancy hotels are nice to look at but why pay that price for a small hotel room? We have stayed at many nice condos in West Maui and while we love to snorkel at Black Rock we are staying at the Whaler this year because it%26#39;s less than half the cost of the Sheraton and we have more than twice the space. I can walk to Black Rock in less than 10 minutes. It%26#39;s a no brainer for me.
