Lahaina Roads Condos

My family %26amp; I are thinking about renting two, 2BR/2BA penthouse units at Lahaina Roads. We like the fact that they%26#39;re cheap ($275/night). They are oceanfront, although no sandy beach. Anyone stay there or know if they are walking distance to town? Any comments would be greatly appreciated!! :)

About a one mile welk along Front Street to the start of the stores and restaurants section. About 1.4 miles right to Lahaina Harbour.

Buy Maui Revealed and look in the back - aerial views of all properties on south and west Maui so you can SEE if there is a beach; how much; how close; which property of building is ocean view vs ocean front ... etc. Great resource for choosing your condo location.

Not much beach area here, but Lahaina in general does not have great beaches or beach access. Better beaches + golf is further north, in Kaanapali and Kapalua where outer island views of Lanai and Molokai are also best. Can still find bargains.

Also can link from aeriel view link to the web site for that property - sometimes it is to a mgmt company that handles reservations. You may find better bargains in same complex via vrbo.

OR when you get there get the free pamphlets describing the short and long walking tours with maps, etc. provided by The Lahaina Restoration Foundation and County of Maui Historic Commission. There are 31 official sites on historic tour of Lahaina -- from Masters Reading Room originally for visiting ships officers, to Jodo Mission Cultural Park / Buddhist Temple on Puunoa Point, dedicated / created by Japanese laborers, now housing the largest Buddha outside of Japan - 3.5 tons; takes about 1.5 hours. Will give you a real sense of where you are and how to get around; very good to take comfortable walking shoes since parking can be such a nightmare in Lahaina. Check the daily required parking fee rates that many places now charge.
