Best area for a June trip?

Looking for the best area to stay in for a June trip, 16th - 20th. Also what hotel recommendation for the area that is recommended? Thanks in advance!

Best area for a June trip?

The North Shore in June is the best IMO. The snorkeling at Ke%26#39;e, Tunnels etc is terrific. The beauty of the NS just can%26#39;t be beat.

Hotel recommendations are limited. The Princeville is planning a remodel during this time so I wouldn%26#39;t recommend that. There is a new Westin opening in April. It won%26#39;t be completely finished by June, we think, but you might get good rates there during the time they are still in construction. Most people stay in condos in Princeville or rents homes and cottages. For condo rentals I suggest looking into Hanalei Bay Resort (summitpacific.com or VRBO), Puu Poa, Sealodge. Read past threads on these properties to decide what would best suite your needs and budget. You can rent through the owner or through an agency. When you narrow down your search we can help you further.

If you do decide to stay in Poipu (South Shore) check out Hyatt, Sheraton or again the many condos offered in this area. South Shore is more crowded than the NS and a lot of construction is going on so do your homework as to where you should stay. Again lots of threads on this issue.

PS:

June is getting booked up. To rent the nicest condos you%26#39;d better decide soon.

I see that the Hanalei bay has a nice pool however is that connected to the condos or just the hotel portion of the resort. Also, is there a beach associated with the resort or any way to get down to the Princeville Resort%26#39;s beach?

HBR consists of privately owned condos (about 50+) and the rest are timeshares. Every unit there has the same amenities. You have use of the pool, tennis courts, etc. (no fee) It is no different if you book directly through the hotel which I do NOT recommend) or book through a private owner directly (summitpacific.com) or through an agency like Regency. There is a wide paved path (no stairs) that leads you to the beach below which is the same beach as The Princeville Hotel%26#39;s. It is a small beach but OK for snorkeling. I like to drive 10 minutes to much nicer beaches, but if you want a quick trip to to the beach it%26#39;s fine. If you don%26#39;t want to walk back up with all you gear or it is raining, there%26#39;s a call box to ask the bellman to bring a golf cart down and pick you up. HBR is also nice as there%26#39;s a lounge/restaurant with entertainment nightly, and the Bali Hai restaurant will be reopening in April or May with a new menu. We are hoping it is open 7 days a week for the summer. They are planning a new breakfast menu right now.

Good luck in your choices.

perfect, thanks for your help. Now I only need to decide which room condo to book since they are getting full quickly. Any suggestions on a unit with unobstructed ocean views?

Private email me and I will look them up. Too bad mine is booked. I%26#39;ll help you!

If you%26#39;re interested in a cottage or house to rent, you could also check out Anini Beach, Hanalei or Haena on the north shore. Try vrbo.com, but a lot of places will aready be booked.

We stayed at this cottage near Anini Beach last May/June and loved it:

It was private and romantic for two and it looks like it is still available during your time frame. It%26#39;s a short walk from Anini Beach and a short drive to the other great north shore beaches.

If you%26#39;ve never been to Kauai before, I would suggest the East Shore, for its central location for sightseeing both north and south with equal travel distances.

There are plentiful beaches between the East and North shores, but it%26#39;s also easy to go into Kapaa or Lihue easily to pick up supplies. The South and West sides are equally accessible in a day trip from the East Shore.

There is traffic in Kapaa during weekday business drive times, so it%26#39;s best if you plan your excursions to avoid ';rush hours'; (That is a silly term isn%26#39;t it? when traffic crawls!)
