Surfing competitions

We will be in Oahu from Feb 21-26, and Maui from Feb 26- March 1st. How could I find out about surf competitions? I would really like to watch one, if there is one going on during that time. I did see one on a Quicksilver website, but it didn%26#39;t provide very much detail as to when.

I noticed on the ibatour.com website that there is a bodyboarding competition going on while we are there. The 2008 IBA International Pipeline Pro on February 17th – 24th in North Shore, Oahu. Does anyone now who I could find out more specific information like locations, dates and times?

A couple of your questions have already been answered.

Dates: February 17th - 24th

The way a surf (in this case bodyboarding) runs is there is a holding period of about 10 days. Usually the meet runs on three days. Sometimes the surf is too low. Sometimes it is too high. So the days that they actually run the event may or may not be consecutive. Nor does it mean that it has to start on a particular day. You will have to watch the surf reports in the morning that you plan to go to the evewnt to see if it is on for that particular day.

There is only one pipeline on the North Shore. It is at Ehukai Beach Park, more commonly referred to as Pipeline.

Most of the events start early in the morning so they can complete their runs. But if the surf is too low early in the morning %26amp; is supposed to pick up later, they may wait.

You can check their website while you are on Oahu to see if they update the event with the time %26amp; if it will be held that day.
